## Description This Epic focuses on upgrading Big Bang from version 3.7.x to 3.8.x in three key environments: the Dev cluster in the Sandbox account, and both the Staging and BB-CI clusters in the SIL account. The upgrade is part of our ongoing effort to stay aligned with Platform One’s release cadence, improve platform security, and reduce technical debt. Stakeholders include the Big Bang Infrastructure team, and mission teams who rely on these environments for development, testing, and CI/CD operations. ## Value to user of BB This is a purely internal epic, it will not benefit customers directly. ## Requirements/Scope To complete this Epic, we’ll need to: * [ ] Upgrade the Dev cluster in the Sandbox account. * [ ] Upgrade the Staging clusters in the SIL account. * [ ] Upgrade the BB-CI cluster in the SIL account. * [ ] Complete a post mortem document. ## Out of Scope This Epic won’t cover upgrades to clusters outside of Sandbox and SIL. It also doesn’t include architectural redesigns or workload migrations—those would be follow-on efforts. ## Duration We expect this work to take about 2 to 3 weeks, including testing, validation, and documentation updates. ## Team The work will be led by the Big Bang Infrastructure team. Other teams might be involved in case of issues on specific applications. ## Epic Team Members Key contributors include: * Infrastructure Team ## Dependencies * Access to the clusters ## Risks Potential risks include incomplete access setup, regressions in packages during the upgrade, delays in merge approvals, and incompatibility with existing workloads. We’ll mitigate these by thorough testing and early stakeholder engagement. ## Acceptance Criteria The Epic will be considered complete when: * All three clusters are running Big Bang 3.8.x. * There are no issues with the deployments handled by BigBang * Runners are not impacted in the CI environment. * Any issue found during update is documented into a post mortem document ## Related Issues and/or Epics There are no other issues and epic related to this issue. ## Mapping to Big Bang Roadmap This Epic supports Big Bang’s roadmap goals of streamlining upgrades, improving platform reliability, and supporting hybrid deployments.
