@jimmyungerman it seems general practice is to set insecureSkipVerify: true . Does prometheus (or istio) not allow us to get and add the istio CA to prometheus' /etc/prom-certs/root-cert.pem, so the cert is trusted? I'm assuming there's something making this difficult. Do we have any documentation or links we can add supporting this?

I'm thinking it's because hostname verification would fail, so there's probably not a nice work-around--does that sound right?
