The current Prometheus monitoring stack, does not scale effectively as the volume of metrics and system complexity grows for BigBang users. This results in performance bottlenecks, inefficient long-term storage, and delayed query responses, making it difficult to maintain a monitoring and observability platform for BigBang environments.
Description
Grafana Mimir is a Prometheus-compatible time-series database designed to handle large-scale metrics workloads, addressing the scalability limitations of a standalone Prometheus. While BigBang currently supports Prometheus and Thanos, this proposal aims to consolidate around Mimir as a unified metrics storage platform. As part of this transition, a deprecation process for existing packages will be necessary.
