BULL-3233: unit tests job

Also renamed a directory we mount to pipeline job containers from "/root" to "/local-dev" since /root is a special directory in the Linux file system. Update:

• Added some comments on where scripts were copied from and where minor changes were made.
• Updated some scripts based on recent (yesterday!) changes to the original scripts in source.
