Fixes specific ring issues when using public NAT Gateways. Need to find a way to test this with the config in AWS that our customers had issues with. Right now, this works with our local deployments.

@jimmyungerman I'm looking at the branch and I just see a changelog, readme and version bump? Not sure if you meant for there to be more changes
